Life-forms: Terophyte.
Habitats: Cultivated fields, path and road sides, disturbed zones. Humid soils.
Characteristics: An herbaceous, normally erect plant, with axial glomules ending in a terminal panicle. At the apex leaves have a very shallow depression.
Observations: In Balears there are about ten taxon of the exotic naturalized Amaranthus, and only one autochthonous species (A. graecizans).
