Characteristics: A species introduced from South Africa, it can be cultivated or naturalised sporadically in slightly cool places. It is recognisable because the stem which carries the inflorescence forms a right angle just beneath the first flower, so the flowers are more or less horizontally lined up. The flowers are yellow or whitish; the leaves are sword-shaped; the plant has an underground bulb.
