Characteristics: An erect herbaceous plant that can reach up to a metre in height, leaves are fairly wide at the basal portion of the stem, hugging this structure with its black glands. The flowers are large, yellow in colour with black spots as the flowers also posses glands. Lives in wet grassy areas. Can be differentiated from Hypericum perforatum, as this later has lanceolate or almost linear leaves, but much smaller. Flowers at the end of spring.
