Characteristics: This Hordeum is very frequent in fields, rural areas, roadsides, and just about everywhere. It is much smaller than the barley which is grown as a cereal. Hordeum murinum rarely grows over 40cm, and can be distinguished from Hordeum marinum because its spike is not as compressed and the leaves have few hairs.
