Habitats: Cultivated fields, path and road sides, disturbed zones. Therophytic calicole fields.

Characteristics: An annual herb, with yellow capitula and a daisy morphology (peripheral flowers with a very developed petal, the central ones are small) but with a uniform colour. The leaves are slightly fleshy, with a dentate or lobulate margin. It lives in dry fields and also in the clearings of dry garrigues (Mediterranean woodland). It can be differentiated from Chrysanthemum coronarium, which is a plant that invades the fields, because this one is much larger and has much more divided leaves, the lobules reach the centre of the leaf and are lobulate at the same time, which does not happen in Chrysanthemum segetum, moreover many populations have white petals peripheral to the capitula with a yellow base. It flowers at the end of spring.
