Habitats: Cultivated fields, path and road sides, disturbed zones. Path and road sides.
Characteristics: A small Gramene characterized by having very long spikelets which are whitish when ripe, and like paper to the touch. Another characteristic feature is the presence of long, white hairs at the base of the leaf lamina, just where it joins the stem, as well as its flowering in summer and autumn. It lives along path-sides, farmlands and disturbed places, usually forming dense carpets. From afar it can be mistaken for Poa annua, which can be in flower at the same time and in the same places, but the physiognomy of the spikelets and the long hairs at the base of the leaf distinguish it immediately.
