Characteristics: A rush with erect stems, forms stolons and this characteristic gives a physiognomic appearance of the presence of many other individual plants. The articulated leaves emerge at the upper part of the stem, instead of from the base like in other rushes. Can be told apart from Juncus articulatus and Juncus subnodulosus as it is much smaller, does not form lawns and although lives in wet areas does not live submerged below the water, it is really much smaller than the rest, up to a half metre. Flowers from April to May.
