Characteristics: This species is a herb which branches out from the base and the branches are generally lying on the ground, these branches are not very big, up to 40 cm, but generally shorter. It has a pilosity which is rough to the touch like all the species of this genus. The flowers are small but clearly visible, sky blue, a tublar shape where the different petals are not clearly differentiated. It can be easily distinguished from all the other species of Echium by its size and above all by the colour of the flower: all the rest have dark blue flowers. It lives in disturbed places, also near the coast. It flowers in spring.
