Characteristics: A rhizotomatous fern with large petiolate leaves, 2-3 pinnasects without hairs. The pinnae are lobulate or divided. Sori are orbicular and black in colour, covered by an indusium in the shape of a hood. Spores are very characteristic with conical aculi.
