Characteristics: Gastridium ventricosum is a very elegant Gramene. It is erect, very stylised, and ends in a long, thin, light green inflorescence, which is very shiny and smooth to the touch. By observing the spikelets with a magnifying glass we can see that the base is a slightly swollen. It lives in moors, dry meadows, sometimes in sandy soils.
