Characteristics: An herbaceous, medium-sized spurge. The inflorescence has many leaves with wide bracts very characteristic of this species. Leaves fold upon themselves and have a pointed apex with a mucro, the same as the bracts. Flowers have semicircular nectaries with not very evident appendices. The seeds are adorned with a marked dorsal awn with transversal grooves.
