Habitats: Therophytic calicole fields. Therophytic silicolous fields. Therophytics communities.
Characteristics: A small herb with verticillate leaves like all the Rubiaceae; the stems are filiform with many long branches which usually climb over one another, the leaves are relatively small but with a lanceolate margin, they are reflected at the end of the plant's cycle. The whole plant is usually dark green, with a greyish tinge. The distinction with respect to other species of this genus is not easy. It can be distinguished from Galium murale, which it coexists with, because the latter is smaller and has long fruits instead of spherical ones and they are practically sessile; moreover it is usually smaller.
