Characteristics: This plant can form a sort of mat of dry, green leaves under the shrubs and bushes in garrigues (Mediterranean woodland) and pine woods. It can be characterised by its distichous leaf arrangement (at right angles and on opposite sides of the stems); the leaves are clearly shorter than those of Brachipodium phoenicoides.
