Habitats: Mesophyll mountainous grasslands. Perennial mountain grasslands, in cool and rainy environments, on basic substrates.
Characteristics: Perennial, tufted plant. Leaves linear, flat, more than 1 mm wide, with a single vein. Stems unbranched or scarcely branched, 8-20 cm, glabrous, with terminal inflorescences. Inflorescence a terminal glomerule, with an involucre of bracts extending downward to form a sheath up to 1 cm, enclosing the upper part of the stem. Involucral bracts straw-green in color, sometimes with reddish tones. Flowers with calyx clearly shorter than the tube, corolla pink.
