Habitats: Therophytic calicole fields. Dry annual grasslands in warm and low-rainfall areas.
Characteristics: Annual herb, glabrous, green, simple or scarcely branched. Stems 5–20 cm, erect. Basal leaves deeply divided, bipinnate; upper ones pinnate and not as deeply divided. Capitula up to 2.5 cm in diameter, with ligulate florets clearly trilobed at the apex. Involucral bracts green, with brownish-black margins. Fruits ribbed, bearing pappus in the ligulate florets and lacking pappus in the tubular ones.
