Habitats: Beaches and dunes, sandy soils. Pine wood and shrubland with rosemary and thyme garigue. Dry, sunny scrub, sometimes somewhat altered and degraded, on calcareous sandy soils of inland dunes, in areas not very cold and with little rainfall.
Characteristics: Small shrub up to 50 cm, greenish-ash or yellowish-green. Stems erect, with some short hairs. Leaves linear-lanceolate, with recurved margins, covered with stellate hairs, with bristly hairs at the apex. Inflorescence lax. Flowers with sepals bearing stiff hairs, the inner ones with very pronounced ribs and glands in the intercostal spaces. Petals yellow.
