Habitats: Gypsicolous shrubland. Therophytic calicole fields. Dry therophytic grasslands of inland areas, on basic soils, in continental regions not very high but rather cool and rainy.

Characteristics: Annual herb, up to 25 cm. Stems ascending, hirsute. Leaves elliptic or lanceolate, flat or slightly revolute, hairy. Inflorescence terminal, unilateral. Flowers very shortly pedunculate, partly hidden by bracts. Outer sepals linear, half as long as the inner ones, which are more or less lanceolate or linear, with reddish veins. Petals 5, shorter than the calyx and yellow. Fruit ellipsoidal, considerably longer than wide.
