Characteristics: Clearings in dry oak forests, box-shrubland and shady rocky places, usually on calcareous substrates. A deciduous tree with a height to 2m. The leaves are trifoliolate, the interior leaves petiolate and those of the flowering branches sessile. The inflorescence is a terminal, pauciflor raceme. The flowers bear three deciduous bracts at their base. The calyx is bilabiate and bell-shaped. The pod (legume) is oblong and compressed some 2-4 cm in length.
