Characteristics: A Gramineae with the spikelets inserted directly into the stem. It can be told apart from other Lolium species, as the spikelets are awned and have lots of florets, more than 10, with a very flexible inflorescence rachis that is often bent by the weight of the spikelets. Found in cultivated fields, roadsides. Flowers in May.
