Characteristics: An annual svelte Graminae, that is tall and erect. The upper foliar sheath that evolves the stem is strongly widened. Differentiates from P. minor, mainly by its entire or only slightly dentate glumes. It can also be told apart from the subspecies brachystachys by its longer glumullas and stems which are generally hairy around the upper parts.
