Description: A small deciduous tree that grows up to 6 m in height. Simple leaves, 5-10 cm, oval or orbicular, finely dentate and petiolated, 3.5 to 8.5 cm in length and 3.5 to 5 cm in width. The obverse is a dark shiny green, without hairs, the reverse has venations with hairs. Flowers emerge before the leaves, and are white or pale pink in colour, 22-32 mm in diameter, with a short peduncle, solitary or in pairs. Fruits are semi-spherical (apricot), 40-50 mm, velvety and reddish ?orange when ripe.
Observations: In the cultivated forms one may find all sorts of fruits in distinct colour, size and flavours.
