Characteristics: Plantago crassifolia lives along the sides of brackish water, as it is a rhimotaous plant, that is it has an underground network of horizontal stems, it forms a sort of quite dense carpet. It has linear, fleshy, semicylindrical leaves, sometimes with some teeth in the margin. Sometimes it can be mistaken for specimens of Plantago coronopus perennes, but these have clearly dentate leaves. Flowers at the end of spring and summer.
