Characteristics: A fountain plant that lives near springs and cold freshwater courses. A multicaule herb with low growing stems (up to 20 cm), scantly branched and leafy; has short, underground stolons. Leaves are acute, ovate and slightly dentate, shiny and the majority opposite. The petals are 7-11 mm in length. The capsule measures 3-6 cm and is glabrous.
